How To Treat Muscle Spasms Causing Pain In Right Side Of Back And Below Rib Cage?

I have pain in the right side of my back about even with the bottom of my rib cage. It hurts bad if I take a deep breath or move. I have had this before. At that time they thought I might have a blood clot on the lung. The final diagnosis was muscle spasms.

Thank you for choosing health care magic to post your question as you have mentioned ,it could be muscle sprain and if so simple measure like muscle relaxant ointments /medications( myoril/myospas) & hot water bag compresses could help you with muscle spasms .
However pain on taking a breath could indicate lung pathology/disease so its best to get a chest xray and consult with pulmonologist to be on safer side.
I find this answer helpful
