How To Treat Muscle Spasms In Mouth Inspite Of Taking Flexeril And Tylenol?

I had some dental work 4 weeks ago. I had a crown placed on my back lower tooth. Since then, I cannot open my mouth. I can now open it enough to get one finger into my mouth, I have been back to the dentist 5x s. Last week they placed a block on my front teeth and said I was having muscle spasms and I am taking flexeril and Tylenol 600 s 3x s a day. I am not seeing any improvements and getting very concerned. I am scheduled to go back tomorrow. I have a temporary crown as I cannot open my mouth enough for them to do any work.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC

So sorry to hear about your problem..

As per your complain difficulty in opening the mouth after dental treatment and crown placement can be due to causes like re-infection in the tooth that has been treated while can also be due to muscle spasms and also can be due to jaw joint related disorder..
In case if you are diagnosed of being having muscle spasm and are not getting relieved with Flexeril that is a muscle relaxant than you probably need a thorough examination and x rays for proper diagnosis and treatment..
In case if infection is diagnosed as the cause then a course of antibiotics along with painkillers and muscle relaxants with mouth opening exercises will help..
In case of problems related to jaw joint they will be treated according to the cause..
The dentist can also use a mouth gag that is helpful in opening the mouth gradually..

Hope this information helps..

Regards..
