How To Treat Overproduction Of Saliva In Case Of A Hypothyroid Patient?

My mother was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 4 years ago. Prescribed levothyroxine. Had excessive dry mouth. Dr. Prescribed med. for soijjerns disease. Took for 3 days and stopped because it caused excessive saliva. She has had excessive saliva for 3 years to the point that her quality of life has declined greatly. No dr. No matter the specialty has been able to help. I feel sure it has something to do with her thyroid. Please help. Currently she is only on Synthroid.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Thyroid may won't cause excessive saliva production or it may be due to cholinergic drugs or GERD or anemia. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Hypo and hypothyroidism may cause dry mouth. Immuno suppressed or steroids may cause excessive saliva production.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
