How To Treat Pain After Removing Pins In Child With Elbow Fracture?

My daughter had 2 pins removed from her elbow last Thursday. This evening (4days later) the area is warm to the touch and the arm appears to be swollen. She does not have a fever and no discharge or redness around the area where the pins were. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Warmth, redness and swelling can indicate an infection even in the absence of a fever.

It would be best for her to be assessed as soon as she can so her doctor can determine if an infection is present.
If there is an infection present then antibiotics would be needed.

I hope this helps
