How To Treat Pain And Inflammation Of Gums During Pregnancy?
I am 9 weeks pregnant and have a painful red, inflamed area of gum adjacent one of my lower right molars that's developed what almost looks like a pimple in the last few days.I will call my dentist Monday morning, but am wondering what can be done if I do have an infected tooth, as I'm sure a serious dental procedure is out of the question during pregnancy.Thank you
As per your complain painful red and inflamed area in gum which looks like a pimple seems to be either due to gum infection or tooth infection..
In case of gum infection there can be a formation of gum boil either due to food impaction in gums or due to injury by some hard food product or while picking with toothpick..
In case of decayed tooth, a deeply decayed tooth can lead to pus formation near the root apex of tooth which accumulates in the soft tissues and appears as a pus blister on gums and is known as DENTAL ABSCESS..
I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated and explain him the entire medical condition too and the treatment will be planned accordingly only after the consent with your Gynaecologist..
As most of the medicines are contraindicated in pregnancy Amoxicillin is found safe and can be taken for infection only after Gynaecologist consent..
For pain plain paracetamol can be taken after gynaecologist's consent..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
