Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Treat Pain And Swelling In The Foot Caused After An Injury?
my wife injured her foot at the airport yesterday. She believes she dropped a suitcase on the top of her foot just behind the toes. Her foot is now swollen on the top and side, red and bruised and painful to walk on. She iced it to reduce the swelling and has elevated her foot, but the swelling and soreness persists. What else can be done at home, short of visiting the ER?
Max of the home remedies are applied till now and the remaining idea would be application of thick turmeric paste over the swollen part. Need prescription of antibiotics as amoxycillin or cephalosporin to combat possible gram positive bacteria which can cause secondary bacterial infection in such hematoma condition. Anti inflammatory medications with serratiopeptidase and proteolytic enzymes also help hematoma dissolution faster way.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
