How To Treat Pain And Swelling Of Neck And Below Ears?
Hi, I had an ear infection for which my doctor prescribed Augmentin for 5 days. After completing the antibiotic course I developed a sore throat and cough together with sinus congestion. I have been self-medicating to treat the symptoms hereof and feel fine except that my eustachian tube seems to be swollen shut- I cannot pop my ears at all. I can feel swelling and it is painful when I press on my neck in the area below my ears. I suspect that it might be swelling of the adenoids or other lymphatic tissue causing this. Is there something you can reccomend for self-medicating to reduce the swelling or should I go back to my doctor? Thanks Nina
You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. You can take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one sos to help reduce the pain & inflammation temporarily. If needed you will be referred to a GP for further tests & investigations.
Since you have swelling you may need a course of antibiotics (oral or injections) will depend on the severity of your clinical condition & reports of the investigations done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
