How To Treat Painful Bump On Shin Caused Due To A Injury?
I fell up the wooden stairs about a month ago hitting my shin on the edge of the stair... I noticed the next day that I had a bump on my shin it hurt to touch it. Now a month later and the bump is still there and is still tender should I be concerned?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain a bump over the shin that is formed secondary to injury with the edge of the stair can be due to soft tissue injury along with ruptured blood vessels leading to hematoma formation.. Many a times the hematoma gets localized and encapsulated with inflammatory cells, injured fibres, blood vessels and forms a firm mass that takes a long time to resolve.. I would suggest you to do alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling.. Apply analgesic ointment like Diclofenac over the lump.. Apply heparin containing gel for faster disruption of hematoma.. Elevate your leg while lying down.. Take Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and pain..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
