hi
Paralysis or hemiplegia after a stroke may take as long as 2-3 years for partial or complete recovery-Neurologists advise physiotherapy exercises of paralyzed limbs by a physical therapist so as to maintain muscle nutrition, ciculation and strength and neuro muscular recovery happens spontaneously.Medicines are given as a supportive treatment. If there is extensive damage to brain areas then sometimes recovery is partial or little, however, your neurologist who must have done MRI of brain is best judge to predict recovery prognosis as per extent of damage, so you may seek counseling from him to allay fears
best wishes
