How To Treat Persistent Back Pain Caused Due To Nerve Damage After Injury?
My wife has on and off back pain. She had a car wreck almost 4 years ago. Some days she can barely move n other days not as bad. It is all in her lower back. Doc said nerve damage and not much hope but life of pain. Most days are OK but something burns and flares up and she can barely walk. It has made her fall multiple to times. If she site in certain positions for extended periods it makes it flare up. She also had minor knee surgery. I just want an idea or place that could offe help. We live in NC and she saw doce at duke hospital.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
When spinal nerves become compressed and irritated, back pain and sciatica may result. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal column that puts pressure on the spinal cord and nerves that can cause pain or numbness with walking and over time leads to leg weakness and sensory loss. At home you can give your wife pain killers such as Ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms. I also suggest gentle stretching exercises. If the symptoms continue, you should get evaluated by a neurologist.
Hope my answer was helpful.
