Hello,
The treatment of acne consists of:
1) Topical retinoids in combination with antimicrobial agents are the first line therapy.
2) Most commonly prescribed topical retinoids for
acne vulgaris include Adapalene, Tazarotene, and Tretinoin. These retinoids should be applied once daily to clean, dry skin, but they may need to be applied less frequently if irritation occurs.
3) Commonly prescribed topical antibiotics for acne vulgaris include clindamycin,
erythromycin, and, more recently, dapsone and minocycline.
4) Topical dapsone 5%
5)
Benzoyl peroxide is to be used along with Antibiotics and retinoids to prevent resistance.
6) Tab. Azithromycin can be taken orally for 7 days.
7)
Isotretinoin is a systemic retinoid that is highly effective in the treatment of severe, recalcitrant acne vulgaris.
8) Isotretinoin therapy should be initiated at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg/d for 4 weeks and increased as tolerated until a cumulative dose of 120-150 mg/kg is achieved.
Please do consult your
dermatologist and discuss the above options.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
