How To Treat Polydipsia?
Hi, for the last couple of weeks my 2 year old daughter has a constant thirst, and as a result passes urine a great deal. she keep lying on the sofa all day and refuses to play out side at all. She is being really short tempured and miss behaving. She has smelly unwell like breath and has no fever, but keeps saying "hurting me" but i can't work out what is hurting her. Also, she has a dry rash across most of her stomach, some of her back and legs.

Many possibilities of polyuria and polydipsia. Most common is type 1 diabetes mellitus in this case which may be present with polyphasia. He may have ketosis that may give acidic smell.
Other possibilities like Central diabetes insipidus caused bygerminoma and craniopharyngioma, Langerhan cell histiocytosis, inflammation, autoimmune and vascular diseases, trauma resulting from surgery or an accident etcetera.
Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus problem is in kidney to obsorb water which leads to polyuria.
Psychogenic polydipsia (PPD), a clinical disorder characterized by polyuria and polydipsia, is a common occurrence in inpatients with psychiatric disorders.
