How To Treat Purple Spot On The Back Of My Left Calf?
I have a dark brown/red/purple spot on the back of my left calf. It looks similar to a bruise or a hickey. It s extremely itchy- even though I haven t scratched all day. It is about 3 days old and gets darker by the day. It is about the size of a quarter now.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that you might be having fungal infection. Management includes: 1. Keeping the area dry & avoid too much exposure to water or sweat formation. 2. Antihistamine preparations like cetirizine to reduce the itching sensation & provide symptomatic relief. 3. Application of topical antifungal cream like Clotrimazole to tackle the causative organism. 4. Topical steroids & antibiotics can also be used to prevent secondary bacterial infection.
If symptoms still persist or aggravate further, then it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & get a proper examination done to find out the actual cause. So that appropriate management steps could be taken.
Also avoid wearing tight clothes...as it will cause sweating & predispose to fungal infections. Wishing you a Good Health. Take care.
