Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Treat Rash On Ankle After Having Cortisone?
I recently had a cortisone injection on my ankle. I developed a rash after that had about twenty dots that looked like red polka dots. They are not sore or itchy. It isn t spreading. It went away. Now a month later it is back. Same site. Same foot. Same looking dot rash.
You seem to have acquired allergic contact dermatitis. The following are my recommendations: 1) Identification of the allergen and it's removal or avoidance of exposure 2) You can use antihistamines like Benadryl or Cetirizine to relieve symptoms like itch or burning 3) You might apply prescription topical steroids, such as Clobetasol 0.05% or triamcinolone 0.1% 4) Apply on the affected area on ankle twice daily.
If the symptoms don't subside, please do consult a dermatologist for a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
