How To Treat Recurring Red And Itchy Bumps?

My 16 year old has been randomly breaking out almost daily with red bumps that look like bites. They itch and burn but after a few hours go away. They keep reappearing and are driving her crazy. SHe takes allergy shots. What can I do? Her dermatologist has no solutions.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She should take care of her hygiene. Take bath everyday and keep the skin moisturized with water based moisturizers. Oat meal baths may help. After bath she can apply soothing lotions like Calamine lotion, Soframycin lotion or Hydrocortisone lotion to get relief from itching.

She should not scratch or touch the area affected. She can take antihistamine, one SOS when needed. She should avoid eating any food that triggers the red, itchy bumps. She should not wear any metals / ornaments that may be causing skin allergy and hence, trigger itchy bumps.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
