How To Treat Red And Painful Bump At The Top Of Buttock?
My five-year-old was complaining about her bum hurting after school today, so I took a look at it. At the top right of her butt crack is a hard, red, painful bump. I thought maybe it was a pimple or ingrown hair, but their is no head on it (that I can see) and it is rock hard and about as big as my thumb tip (average female hand). Any suggestions?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A red, painful bump near the buttock cleft is likely to be due to infection. The skin infections are common are common in this region. Boils, furunculosis (infection of hair follicles) can lead to formation of red colored pimples in the region. You can apply an antibiotic ointment on the red colored lesions. In addition, you can use painkillers to control the pain. If the red colored lesions do not respond to antibiotic ointment, you may consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and prescription of additional medicines.
