Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 10 year old son was treated for a staff infection on his big toe. He took all medication; however, his big toe continues to bleed spontaneously. He completed the antiobiotic over a month ago. The toe does not hurt, but appears red and slightly swollen.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment of the swollen toe. A course of antibiotic is likely to resolve the infection. However, the infection can persist if the infective organism is resistant to the antibiotic used.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
