My belly button is red and wet on the inside. After noticing this problem I tried cleaning it but in a couple of minutes it became watery again. If I leave it alone there is crust that forms around it and it s very itchy. I don t know what to do to make it go away. What do I do??

Hi,

A red and wet belly button may be a sign of infection or irritation. It's important to keep the area clean and dry to prevent further irritation. Here are some steps you can take:
* Clean the area: Gently clean the inside of your belly button with warm water and mild soap, using a soft washcloth or cotton swab. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean towel. Do this twice a day or more often if necessary.
* Apply an antifungal cream: If the redness and wetness are accompanied by a foul odor or discharge, it may be a fungal infection. Over-the-counter antifungal creams, such as clotrimazole or miconazole, can help clear up the infection. Follow the instructions on the package carefully.
* Use a topical antibiotic: If the area is swollen, painful, or oozing pus, it may be a bacterial infection. Topical antibiotics, such as neomycin or bacitracin, can help treat the infection. Apply the cream as directed by the package.
* Avoid tight clothing: Tight clothing can irritate the belly button and trap moisture, which can make the problem worse. Wear loose-fitting clothing to allow the area to breathe.
* Keep the area dry: After cleaning, make sure to thoroughly dry the inside of your belly button with a clean towel or a hairdryer set on cool. Moisture can promote the growth of bacteria and fungi.

If the redness, wetness, and itching persist despite home treatment, or if you develop fever or other symptoms, see your healthcare provider for an evaluation. They may prescribe additional treatment or run tests to identify the cause of the problem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
