How To Treat Red Bump And Pain In Shin Caused After Injury?

My 9 year year fell in the pool hit his shins, immediately huge red bump arose, this happened yesterday. Today the bump went down but he s in pain. I ve been putting ice on it have it wrapped an ace bandage but it s still a little red could it be something other than a bruised bone

Rest. limb elevation, ice and bandage application provide significant pain relieve and decrease the swelling during the first 2 to 3 days after injury. If your 9 year old is still in pain, it is better to take him to the ER and let a physician see him. Based on whether your child is able to walk without any pain, if there is any pain on sliding a finger on his shin and the bruise pattern an X ray is advisable. If x rays shows no injury , you can continue rest, ice and bandage. If x ray shows some thing can proceed based on that.
