How To Treat Redness And Pain In Sclera Of Eye Caused After Injury?
Last Thursday night I poked the white of my eye with a plastic garment bag point and it is bloodshot and a little painful. I have been putting some eye drops in a few times a day to get the red out. Do I need to get some medicated eye drops or just be patient as it will heal on it s own?
Looking by your description it must be a small SCH(Sub Conjunctival Haemorrhage) caused to to trauma.
This injury will heal by itself over a period of 2 to 4 weeks but as there is truma to the layers of conjunctiva(white part of eye) you need to instill antibiotic drops such as moxifloxacin (1drop for 4 times a day for 5 days) to prevent superadded infection.
To Speed up the process you will have to rake Vitamin C tablets for a petiod or 2 to 3 weeks.
All this is only for the superficial injury to the eye ball but if there is visual disturbance, pain, discharge, itching etc you will have to consult an ophthalmolgist.
Hope your vision is good else feel free to question
hope this helps
