Hello,
Commonly runny nose is triggered when anything irritates or aggravates the nose causes runny nose, a stuffy nose or
sneezing. It can be pollen, dander, animal fir, pollutants, fumes, etc. Avoid staying around nasal irritants. It is causing
allergy. You can take antihistamines, at bed time. If its due to allergy it will get reduced. But do not take the medicine regularly. Colds and the flu, which stem from infections, and other irritants can contribute too.
You should try to keep your body warm and take food that give warmth like drink ginger tea, take lean meat, red meat(in limited amount), poultry, oats meal, take soups, coffee. Stay active. Avoid smoking, alcohol and addictions if any. If your nose just won't stop running and you can't find the cause, you may have
non allergic rhinitis. Take immunity boosting food and adequate rest. Avoid
anxiety and stress. Get clinically examined by an ENT, to rule out
sinusitis, get X-ray PNS done. This is to stay on the safer side.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
