How To Treat Scabies Causing Redness And Blisters On Skin Of Infant?

My grandson is 9 months old. For the last 2 1/2 months has been breaking our intermittently breaking out with blisters, redness, and swelling on his body. He has had it on his hands, feet, face, torso, and on his head. He s been to his pediatrician, emergent care, and ER. All diagnosed baby scabies, he s been treated 3 times with Rx meds. Needless to say, he is still breaking out. We have changed to hypoallergenic baby detergent and double rinse all the laundry. Use baby wash that s hypoallergenic also. He cries and scratches , and has difficulty sleeping. None of family members or friends have scabies. Thanks for any help!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your grandson has symptoms of scabies causing redness and blisters on skin of infants. Well scabies is a skin infestation caused by a tiny microscopic bug known as the human itch mite . Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Rash and burrows are the main signs that doctors use to determine if you have a scabies infestation. Doctor may take skin sample for lab test , sample is examined under a microscope to confirm the presence of mites or eggs . Doctor may prescribe 5 percent permethrin cream , 25 percent benzyl benzoate lotion and percent sulfur ointment . For now apply cold compresses and take benadryl .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
