How To Treat Scar On Left Side Of Head Caused After Injury?
Hello, I ve a 24year-old scar on the left top side of my head. 12 stitches there all those years ago after being hit by a cricket bat in the head. Over the last month I ve noticed the area is a little sore. I had a lump of what appeared to be dry skin there and thought maybe just dandruff or something but it s not going away. Any ideas?
Changes in a 24 year old scar is a dangerous symptom unless proved. The probabilities area as one of the following: - Development of cancer is a scar is a known thing - Biopsy of such an area is a must - Consult a dermatologist or a general surgeon for clinical evaluation - CT scan of the skull bone is also a must - Once you get a biopsy report it will decide the further course of management Removal of a scar / cancer on scalp needs a large rotation flap or full thickness skin grafting. Be prepared for the results and get operated asap.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
