Hi.. I have question regarding 2nd degree burn scar. What kinds of medications are available to get rid of it. The burn is mostly covering the right half of the face for more than 6 years. The patient is 8 years old. Any recommended products? Thank you.
Second degree burn means burning of two outer layers of skin that is epidermis and dermis . Depending upon the depth and area of burn it is further classify into major and minor . usually scarring from a second degree burn on the face occur. The best option is plastic surgery . So i would suggest you to find a good plastic surgeon for proper evaluation of the condition of the skin and get it treated . If the scars are superficial then topical ointments will help but may take months and consult dermatologist for it . your plastic surgeon may opt for silicon sheets method . Topical silicone sheets or gels are a popular method of diminishing hypertrophic scar formation. For now prevent it from sun exposure and give ice pack twice a day .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
