How To Treat Severe Jaw Infection Caused After A Dental Implant?

I had a severe infection from a dental implant. I have been on lavaquin 750, 3 bouts of prednisone, nasal decongestants, flonaose, etc... Oral surgeon did an extraction and bone graft in Dec. I had an infection following that in Feb. Infection shrunk bone so in May he put i a nasal augment, another bone graft and implant. within a week I had implant removed due to svere infection and rejection. He never removed the bone graft. after a month, i am still having jaw pain, pain at the site and max nasal cavity. Infection is not totally gone. Do you think the bone graft may be the cause?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a developed an infection in your sinuses due to recurring infection at the implant site ad it is leading to jaw pain along with pain in nasal cavity..
Bone grafts generally do not cause so severe rejection as it is generally made from compatible host..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be given antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers and saline nasal rinses and decongestant nasal sprays..
However in case of no relief sinus surgery can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
