How To Treat Severe Knee Pain That Worsened After Accidental Twisting?

I have had knee pain for several months and yesterday I twisted knee while stepping on my shoestring. I heard a popping noise and pain was so severe I thought I was going to pass out. I immediately sat down. I can stand and walk now but not without limping but pain is severe. It really hurts when sitting with leg extended straight.

Hi you had knee pain for several months and have now injured it during a fall. Knee is swollen and you can walk with limp. In my opinion you have probably damaged a meniscus / Cruciate ligament in your knee. Take pain killers , use knee support for walking and get an MRI to arrive at proper diagnosis.
