How To Treat Severe Pain And Swelling In Foot Caused After Injury?

Hi there, two and half years ago I stepped on a large nail, and it penetrated my foot by about 1/2 or less (Below my big toe in the ball of my foot). I think it stopped when it hit the bone. I was given antibiotics and some cream for the entry point, but other than that I was just on crutches for a couple weeks, and I had no other medical help. I was told there was nothing more to do. For a week it was extremely swollen and very sore. I m pretty certain I cracked the bone and/or caused nerve damage and my foot still hurts today. I have a big bump on the side of my foot where it happened, and it hurts to walk on it or touch it. What should I do now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
I understand your concern.Due to depth of injury & penetration of muscle, you may have pain and swelling. If you are able to move your foot properly, consider that there is no nerve damage.i would recommend T.ultracet twice daily for 3 days for my patients.I think you dont have any fracture, more over if you are really worried get an x-ray foot.

Thank you
