How To Treat Short Cervix, higher PTT And Low Protein Count For Conception?
hi... i am a female of 26 years age. i have been diagnosed with 3 problems related to my pregnancy. one is short cervix because of which i lost my baby at 32 weeks of pregnancy. Another is higher PTT (57 where as normal is 32-43) with low protein S (51, normal is 57-120). i have even experienced miscarriage at 6 weeks of pregnancy. now i would like to paln again. can a give birth to a healthy bay with these conditions.
Short cervix may be due to developmental problem, repeated pregnancy, cervix surgery, or injury, etc. It should be managed as per the cause. Cerclage, that is suturing of the cervix during pregnancy to carry the pregnancy till the actual duration of pregnancy.
Protein S deficiency should be evaluated for the cause whether it is due to acute thrombotic events or due to hereditary cause. Depends on the cause anticoagulant therapy to carry the pregnancy till delivery date. Free Protein S assay helps to confirm the etiology. Visit the obstetrician and physician for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
