How To Treat Sleep Apnea?

Hello Dr, I broke my ankle back in December 2013, and got better around May 2014, so I have been pretty much immobile for about 6 months. I believe I developed Sleep Apnea, and that is my question, do I have Sleep Apnea, or something else? Symptoms: When I try to sleep my lower throat/chest area gets tight and my hearts beating fast as a result of lack of oxygen, because every time I try to fall asleep I wake up gasping for air. I eventually fall asleep after twisting and turning, and sometimes these episodes happen, and sometimes not where I can sleep fine. I am wondering if this is due to immobility? Thanks.

Hi, this is called sleep apnea as you said, I can advise you to lose weight so that you can reduce fat around your neck, which could be the cause...have to Quit smoking if any and you need to avoid alcohol and sedatives if any....Nd avoid caffeine , and heavy meals 2 hrs before bed...If it is not relieved with these measures...U can undergo CPAP, it's a kind of breathing supportive measure
