Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I was using the restroom this morning after running up a flight of stairs. I found myself dizzy and when I went to wash my hands I fainted and hit my head. I recall choosing to close my eyes but am unsure if I lost consciousness as I recovered quickly after. I ve had some fatigue but I was already feeling that way when I woke this morning. 12 hours later, once a mild headache went away, I found a soft and sore indentation on my head. How should I proceed? I had not felt a visit to the ER was warranted when I first fell. Thank you.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore indentation on head . If the headaches are felt worse in the morning or in the evening or night, then probably what you have is benign intracranial hypertension . This happens due to abnormal CSF absorption. The headache is aggravated by straining, coughing or a change in position. Hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, adrenal insufficiency are a few things I would recommend you get investigated for. These can precipitate BIH. A spinal tap is a must both to diagnose the condition and to treat it. Alternatively it could be a tension headache, causing a dent or slight indentation at the center of the head. Please consult an internal medicine specialist or a neurologist for this.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
