How To Treat Sore Throat While On Treatment For Temporomandibular Joint Disorders?
I m being treated for TMJ and have a sore throat. What can I do to to relieve the sore throat. If my TMJ hurts on my right side I ll have a sore spot on the right side of my throat. If my left jaw hurts I ll have a sore spot on the left side of my throat.
The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSF) . Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a chronic precancerous disease that results in progressive juxtaepithelial fibrosis of the oral soft tissues and TMJ is one of the prominent symptom in this condition . I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor will take history and do clinical examination . Doctor will also look for trismus, stiff and small tongue, blanched and leathery floor of the mouth, fibrotic and depigmented gingiva . doctor will give local injection of placental extract and Methylcobalmin injection . Jaw dilators exercises will be helpful . Doctor may also prescribe lycopene . Do warm saline rinses , start physical therapy of jaw , speak less and eat soft . Give proper rest to your jaw .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
