How To Treat Swelling And Discolouration Of Fingers Cause Due To A Injury?

I punched a wall and the top of my hand behind my middle, ring, and pinky finger is swollen and slightly discolored. My last two knuckles look like they aren't there because if the swelling. It seems that I can move my hand with some pain. Is it just bruised or do I need to get x rays?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain swollen fingers along with black bruising due kicking the wall seems to be due to traumatic injury to the soft tissues leading to ruptured blood vessels and causing accumulation of blood into the soft tissues and it is the cause for bruising and there is also hematoma formation..
In case if you are able to move the fingers with moderate pain then there are lesser chances of fracture as pain is due to inflammation and swelling of soft tissues..
But for confirmation you can get an x ray done.
In case if there is no bony fracture then you should do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump..
Apply Heparin gel as it help in faster disintegration of the bruising/hematoma..
You can apply numbing gel if there is pain..

In case of fracture reduction and immobilization can help in bone healing..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
