General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, seems post traumatic hematoma formation most likely. When the vitals are normal, child is playing, conscious, no vomiting, convulsions or other features, there is no need to rush to an ER for paying handsome dollars.

Guidelines for better recovery:
- Apply ice 3 times a day 5 minutes each
- Sterile dressing with neosporin ointment with sterile bandage.
- Analgesic as paracetamol or acetaminophen for pain relief
- Prescription of antibiotic as amoxicillin or cefadroxil needs a consultation with his primary care whether it is needed or not.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
