How To Treat Swelling And Pain In The Foot Caused After An Injury?

Hello, a wooden shelf fell on top of my foot, right in the center. It s a little bit swollen, the area and the toes. It hurts during the day, sometimes more sometimes less. I can barely move my toes though i dont know if it is because of the swelling or due to something more serious. There s no bruising, should i go to the doctor or will it pass? PS: it has been a day.Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma.

For further assessment you may require X Ray of that affected foot.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Avoid strenuous activity.

Use support while walking.

You may require surgical intervention after orthopedician consultation in case of fracture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
