Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For a long time, I would wake up with swollen eyelids. During the morning, the swelling would disappear and my eyes would appear normal. But during the last two weeks, the swelling remains all the time, and my eyelids are now permanently drooping. My eyelids are also red. I have an underactive thyroid.
Wash with tap water but don't rub the eyes. Gently tap or massage the area to stimulate blood flow and apply a cold compress. It would relieve any swelling and reduce any itchiness from local irritation. Take OTC antihistamines like Levocetirizine 5 mg at night.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Preeti Jolly, Endocrinologist
