Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My partner got hit in the head with a hockey stick and has had 6 stitches just above his eye down his face. This morning he woke up with a swollen eyelid. Is this normal and is there anything that can decrease the swelling so he can see better at work
I can well understand your concerns regarding your partner. It hurts when you can't see better.
Let me explain that this is all due to inflammation, oozing in deeper tissues of the skin, some inflammatory fluid and blood accumulations.
We have to resolve this inflammation and flush this extra fluid out from subcutaneous tissues. Apply hot sponges for 15minutes frequently during the day. Let your partner sleep with head end elevated ( Don't increase the number of pillows, but lift the head end of the bed).
Give your partner Ibuprofen for better and speedy recovery.
If you feel nothing works anymore, consult an Ophthalmologist for complete evaluation and treatment.
Hoe it helps. Let me know if you need further assistance anytime. Go straight to my profile and click on Ask me a question or simply write down my name in start of your future health queries.
Regards! DR. MUHAMMAD M HANIF USA
