How To Treat Swollen Jaw And Pain After Tooth Drilling?
Evening, I went for a dental check-up on Monday. I come to find out I had two Cavities. He then did some drilling on a tooth of mine. Only drilling though. Since then I've had pain from chewing and my jaw seems to be a little swollen. Is it normal to feel pain and be a tad swollen after a dentist drills on one of your tooth?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain a mild sensitivity after tooth filling for 3 to 4 days is normal and it gradually resolves.. But swelling and pain after tooth filling is not at all a normal finding and it occurs when e to deeper drilling the nerves are exposed and the irritation of nerves with the filling material leads to inflammation and swelling..
You should consult a dentist and get an x ray of the offending tooth done so that if the nerves are exposed then the filling has to be removed under local anaesthesia and Root Canal Treatment is performed followed by antibiotics and painkillers.. Once the root canal treatment is completely accomplished then after 15 to 20 days capping is done for providing strength to the tooth..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
