How To Treat Swollen Lymph Nodes On Neck, Enlarged Prostate And Hip Bone Lesion?
My father was just admitted into hospital. Extreme Fatigue, lost 40 lbs since October, 2015, he was just given an MRI and it revealed: swollen lymph nodes on his neck, an enlarged prostate and a lesion on his hip bone. He had refused to get medical attention and finally his pain was too intense to tolerate and he took himself to have a blood test. They immediately admitted him instead. What do you think is going on?
Hello and welcome to HCM, All the three problems - swollen lymph nodes, enlarged prostate and lesion in the hip bone all need to be investigated separately. Lymph nodes can enlarge due to infection, inflammation or malignancy. An aspiration cytology of the enlarged lymph node needs to be done to know the cause of lymph node enlargement. This investigation will determine the cause of lymph node enlargement. Prostate enlargement is caused due to its benign or malignant enlargement. A serum level of PSA (prostate specific antigen) needs to be determined to know the cause of prostatic enlargement. Lastly the nature of hip lesion needs to be determined by imaging study like CT / MRI These investigations will lead to diagnosis and thus definitive treatment.
