How To Treat Swollen Tonsils Due To Strep Throat Inspite Of Taking Z-pac?

I am wondering if my daughter needs to go back to the doctor for a third time if her tonsils are still swollen after strep throat. She was first given Amoxicillin and not much change so we went back to Dr a week later and they gave her a steroid shot and a antibiotic shot and also a prescription for a Z-pac. She has finished the Z-pac and her tonsils are still very swollen?

As per your complain it seems that your daughter is suffering from Bacterial throat infection also known as Strep throat and the symptoms of throat pain that is Pharyngitis along with inflamed tonsils that is Tonsillitis seems to be due to it..

In case if after antibiotic intake as well as steroid shot still she has swollen tonsils then a throat swab culture is to be done to confirm the cause and treatment can be given as per cause..
Along with antibiotics she can also be advised anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help..
She can also suck throat lozenges, chew Vitamin C pellet and avoid spicy and chilled foods..
In case if it still does not improve then the last resort to relieve the symptoms is surgical removal of Tonsils or Tonsillectomy..
