How To Treat Throbbing Sensation On Face And Nausea After Wisdom Tooth Removal?

Had 2 lower wisdom teeth removed 4 days ago my surgery area looks fine but I have a throbbing pain in my face, I feel nauseous , have chills and a fever. Taking amoxicillin but no pain pills because I drive a truck, what can be wrong, should I see a doctor?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms throbbing after wisdom tooth extraction is a normal finding and you should take painkillers along with antibiotics as painkillers will only control inflammation and pain post extraction..

Nausea can be due to a side effect of amoxicillin while chills and fever seems to be due to Septicemina as bacteria may enter the blood from the extraction site and body's defence mechanism fights off the infection leading to increase in body temperature.

Nothing to worry about it, you should continue taking amoxicillin and along with it take Anti-inflammatory painkiller Ibuprofen for relieving pain and inflammation.
If you are not known allergic to it there is no problem taking it even if you drive.

Do cold compresses over the cheeks..
Docwarm saline gargles.
Take soft diet.

In case if still there is no improvement consult your dentist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
