Hello, thanks for you time, i have a toungue that is very white on top. And i now have what seem to be painful ulcers on the edges of my tongue. The past 12 hours i have been using Cepacol mouth wash and it seems to be helping as they are not as painful now but they are still there. What is your recommendation?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain ulcers at the edges of tongue can be Apthous Ulcers or Canker Sores and is characterized by formation of small blisters on different mucous membranes of the mouth like tongue, inner lips, gums, inner cheeks etc..

It can occur due to a number of reasons like Nutritional deficiency, excessive intake sour foods, immuno compromised conditions like diabetes and HIV,Stress,Traumatic injury, excessive hot food etc and at times it can also occur due to unknown reasons..

You need not to worry and you can keep using the Cepacol mouth wash as it is antimicrobial in nature..

Do salt water gargles..

In case of pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and can can apply numbing gels like oragel for relief..

Suck on ice pops can help..

Gargle with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl can help..

Avoid spicy and hard food..

Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration..

Hope this information helps..
