My mother is a known diabetic and has a infection in urine which is sensitive to colistin only. Earlier she had been catheterized for acute urinary retention for around 9 weeks, now the PUC has been removed 4 weeks back but she still has culture positive. She is otherwise asymptomatic what should be the line of treatment?
Continue colistin for at least 1 more week along with strict controlling and monitoring of blood sugar levels, fosfomycin sachet two times a day for 10 days can be helpful.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
