How To Treat Vitamin B12 Deficiency?

I was advised by my family physician to take Tab. ramlyin for 9 months as i was having very low vit. B12. But after the 9 months treatment, still my Vit. B12 levels are low. Now my doctor says that i must take 6-8 injections of Vit. B12.... Please suggest as i am getting tense and worried.

Brief answer: Non vegetarian diet,Oral B12(Multivitamin supplement),parenteral (B12 injections)
Detailed answer: If am your treating physician,would advise initially some dietary modifications (like to encourage animal meat product(liver),eggs,dairy products in diet and OTC multivitamin tablet containing B12 for 3months ,provided not associated with clinical symptoms like features of severe anemia,neurological issues and marked B12 deficiency.
After 3 months,for my patients who are not responding(refractory) to oral vitamin B12 supplementation and diet modifications,would consider B12(cyanocobalamin) injection 100mcg once daily for 6-7days initially,which i hope your treating doctor is making out.Hope i have answered your query.If any other questions,happy to answer you.Take care.
