How to treat wasp sting at home. Was stung 28 hours ago below the second joint of the ring finger of the right hand . the swelling doesn t look critical, yet. But it noticeable. This is my 66 year old spouse. Already decided to see our G.P. tomorrow if there is no improvement. We have some OTC meds here at home, zyrtec and mometasone. my wife was stung by a wasp about 30 hrs. ago. this morning she has swelling in her fingers and hand. we will see our own MD. in the morning , if no improvement. is tHere anything we could or should do tonight?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain swelling of the finger after wasp sting seems to be allergic reaction to the poisnous chemical that is injected by the wasp under the skin.. You can very well give her Zyrtec [Cetrizine] as well as you can also make her do cool compresses over the swelling.. If there is pain Ibuprofen can be taken.. Application of steroid ointment like Mometasone and also calamine lotion can soothe the skin.. Take a keen look at the sting site and in case if there is stinger still present embeded under the skin remove it gently.. It can take 2 to 3 days for the symptoms to resolve but in case of no improvement consult a Physician and get evaluated.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
