How To Treat Weight Gain And Bloating During Perimenopause?
I am 49 years old, perimenopausal having had partial last period in Aug. I gained 10 # within 2 months this summer r/t extra eating, vacation, etc. having expected to lose it once back to more typical eating and resuming exercising consistently 3 days/week. I hve not lost the weight and have been very bloated and have had less frequent and smaller stools for the past few weeks. What may be the cause and what should I do to improve my bowel regularity and lose the weight and diminish the bloating!?
Weight loss can be more difficult due to the hormonal changes that would have occurred. You may need to make additional diet and activity changes to try an lose the weight.
In terms of the bloating, this can be due to: (1) gas producing foods such as carbonated drinks, cabbage, broccoli, turnips, beans, prunes
(2)constipation (3)reflux (4)celiac disease (5)lactose intolerance or other food intolerance
Eating more fruits and vegetables, at least 5 servings a day would help with your bowel movements. Other high fiber foods like whole grain products would also help You should drink at least 8 glasses of fluid daily (this does not include caffeine drinks or alcohol because they cause fluid loss).
I hope this helps
