Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have been taking codalgin forte. 4 tablets a day for 3 years. I would like to slowly go off them so not to have a withdrawel. I have been put on a pain patch. Just need some advice as to how to proceed. my Doctor thinks I should just be able to go straight off them. I think he is an idiot.
Codalgin Forte is a combination of opioid and paracetamol and dependence to the opioid is possible. I would suggest you to stop one tablet over a week and gradually stop the drug in 4 weeks which will avoid unwanted anxiety.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
