How To Wean Off Xanax Safely?

I have been taking Xanax for almost a year now & I am having trouble stopping. I took the this drug for about 6/7 years back in the 90 s with no problem while taking it or when I wanted to stop. What has changed and what is the best method to stop taking it.

Hi! Welcome to HCM!
Brief answer: You should not stop it suddenly

Detailed answer: Since Xanax can be a habit forming drug it has to be used cautiously for a genuine indication.
Seizures (convulsions), agitation, anxiety, and withdrawal symptoms can occur if Xanax is stopped suddenly this is because of the adaptation the body has taken over to the use of Xanax. If you want to stop ask your doctor how to avoid the withdrawal symptoms and other unwanted side effects.
Wishing you a smooth and successful discontinuation of Xananx.
Regards!
