How To Withdraw From Ativan?

I have taken Ativan for many years for sleep/anxiety. My doctor wants me to quit Ativan. I have never abused it, am still on the original doseage of 5 mg. My lab numbers are normal. I was injured and had brain surgery to remove a clot last December. I have some retrograde memory loss, some of which has returned. p.s. I am 80 yrs old and not too keen on changes in meds. I think it is alright if you continue with Ativan drug as you have mentioned that you have anxiety and sleep trouble. Considering your age, the benefits over-weigh the risks. Just make sure that you do not increase the dose.
