How To Withdraw From Flecainide Acetate?

My husband had a electrical cardioversion two a half weeks ago. He has been tapered from 100 mg of Flecainide Acetate twice a day to 50 mg a weed and half ago. He continues to have adverse side effects from this drug. Is it safe to stop taking it all together or should he taper again?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If I am your treating doctor I suggest you not to stop the medication and will take ECG. What are the symptoms your husband is having. It is always better to tapper the drug than stopping it suddenly as it may get back the heart to same old position. So I advise you to consult with your physician for tapering the medicine or switch over to Sotalol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
