Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor I have been on lyrica 75 at night and 25 mgs in the morning. I was prescribed this for anxiety. I also take stilnoct 10 at night. How should I best manage to get off this medication. I am currently getting CBT for my anxiety and find it great. Worst side affect blurry eye and memory loss..I have been on this medication for 9 months. Kind regards Maureen
Hi Lyrica (pregabalin) can cause blurry eyes and interference in memory. As you are on Lyrica for 9 months, tapering the dose should be ideal. But considering the fact that you are having side effects, I would assess the severity them and then decide on tapering or abruptly stopping. If the symptoms are severe, I would stop Lyrica and would observe how CBT would work without Lyrica. If CBT is able to address your anxiety, then no other medications are necessary. Or else we might have to look at alternatives like buspirone for anxiety management. You can discuss the above information with your doctor and arrive at a consensus. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a great day. Take care.
